Learn More about the Model Pose When doing a photo shoot, many beginner models have one major challenge - how to pose for the camera. This is natural but a female model who learns and practices great posing techniques will be way ahead of the game when she steps into the studio and the photographer begins the picture session.
Learning to pose - not instant Beginning something new is always the hardest part but, once you know a few of the "secrets" to posing you'll begin to develop two things .. 1. Natural body language and 2. Confidence These things come with experience and believe me, the super successful female models like Cindy Crawford and Tyra Banks did not start off knowing how to pose. On the contrary, it took them months (or maybe years) of work in order to develop a style and get "the look" agencies and fans so much desire.
Learn posing from other models The female models you see on the runway, in magazines and other venues have the experience - and it shows! You can easily look and examine what they do when you are a new beginner in modeling. Just buy the fashion or glamour magazines - then tear out the pages of poses you like. Study them carefully! Here are some things to look for in these female model poses. A) Body language - See how the model is positioned. Is she sitting, standing, lying down? Is her back straight? How is her head turned, etc. B) Expression - Look at the female model expression in the pose and see how it relates to her body language C) Clothing - Is the model's pose consistent with the outfit she is wearing? How do the colors reflect her mood? D) Lighting - Light direction and intensity can determine how a picture looks. See if the model is posed in bright or subdued light. How does it correspond to the pose, outfit and expression on the model's face?
Now it's your turn! Memorize these posing situations and then practice them. First, try to do the pose you see in the magazine. Then, start to change a part of it piece by piece until you start to develop your own posing style. Now you are on your way to becoming a professional female model! |
