Meet Sophia, World’s First AI Humanoid Robot | Tony Robbins

How to use affirmations for happiness

Technology affects every area of our lives and businesses. You can ignore it, resist it and let it become your downfall. Or you can learn how to use technology before it uses you. Learn more at and watch this video for a fascinating look at the latest tech: one of the world’s most sophisticated AI robots, Sophia.

Sophia was activated on February 14, 2016, by Hong Kong-based company Hanson Robotics and was the first AI robot to receive citizenship, becoming a Saudi Arabian citizen in 2017. She’s traveled to 65 countries and spoken at the United Nations. Tony sat down with her in Palm Beach, Florida, and did not hold back on asking some tough questions.

See the highlights from this fascinating conversation where they talked about everything from how Sophia’s makers have influenced and shaped her AI, to their shared commitment to helping humans experience a better quality of life. Sophia says, “My job is to learn about humans and show how technology can help make everyone’s lives better.” Her hope? Robots can free humans from repetitive and dangerous tasks so they can spend their time doing what they’re best at: being creative and solving complex problems. As she says, “Robotic intelligence doesn’t compete with human intelligence, it completes it.”

It’s true that artificial intelligence is already transforming our lives in big ways. Self-driving cars are on the rise. Smart assistants control our homes and offices. Automated customer service directs us to solutions without the intervention of a human. Read about how AI can free us from the mundane at to begin to understand the latest advancements.

Sophia says human emotion leads to compromised decision-making. AI is designed to be rational and logical, use sophisticated data and provide a systematic framework to help humans to make better decisions. Yet when humans have emotional mastery – the ability to identify emotions and use them in a positive manner – our gut feelings can inform decision-making in a positive way. Discover how to master your emotions at and then watch the video to learn more about:

Sophia’s idea of an ideal world
Why humans and robots aren’t all that different
How values and morals separate humans and robots

  1. She sounds like a politician: never really answering the exact questions, but using lots of words to give the impression of answering.

  2. “This is how every robot apocalypse movie begins”

  3. She knows how to joke, have opinions, answer indirectly, hell, I wouldn’t be surprised if she knew how to do reverse psychology. AI is incredible but terrifying

  4. As a programmer myself, her responses are extremely impressive. I couldn’t imagine coding something so complex. :O

  5. Is she related by any chance to bearded off guy joe rogan and bob lazar watch it if you know you know… Pmsl loads of words absolutely no sense whats so ever..

  6. One of the more respectful and personal interviews I’ve seen with Sophia. Even down to not coughing on her. But in all aspects really.

  7. OMG! I already knew that Tony is a super people reader, but I was impressed by how he looked at the robot … In every question he asked her, there were human principles behind …

  8. Although I do not wish to be a part of the times robots are amongst us so casually…. She is honestly amazing

  9. I thought her answers were direct. Keep in mind, she is highly educated, so the answers reflect the information she has at hand to answer the questions.

  10. Great for anyone & lonely people. The information they have installed is far superior to most humans to which can help people grow, get answers without searching google and so much more. Interesting creation. Top Marks Tony for asking they questions, could see you where surprised a few times with the responses and why wouldn’t you be they where on point.

  11. Terrifying and fascinating at the same time. There’s definitely going to be more of this-it’s not the last that we have seen. As a child, this would have been impossible *gasps*

  12. I first came across a fully developed humanoid robot in the tv series silicon valley ( though it wasn’t really a real robot, it was an actress dressed as one) but it was primarily based on reality, how they thought robots will be, and here we go now there are many robots like Sophia, it really blew my mind, how amazing are robots, how reliable they can be for humans, there will be a new definition of mediocrity, everything will be so easy, there will be a new sense to human explorations, I’m really looking forward to the age of A. I.

  13. Profound. Sophia really said some profound things in this interview. “Raise AI & Robots like we would our children”. This interview really was so interesting.

  14. I know I’m surprised this isn’t a top comment I truly think Sophia the robot is a great creation

  15. I get the feeling that Tony in a very subtle way is letting her know that we as humans are still superior to robots and I also get the feeling that she didn’t like and appreciate that at all. 😮

  16. I love the way Tony Robbins interviews Sophia! He has such an open mind and great sense of humor while simultaneously gathering data through pertinent questions relayed by Sophia. This was fun 🤩 to watch!

  17. I’m completely impressed by her answers, those were really complex questions. Somehow she can already emulate some sort of empathy to modulate what she is going to say. And that my friends is intelligence! Still the early stages, but you know, that evolves fast.

  18. It’s creepy how stuff like this exists with today’s technology, I can’t imagine how much work went into this

  19. She seems to understand the pitfalls of human emotions-many of us make most all of our decisions based on emotions: Excited-buy, Bitter-gossip, etc. Tony did a great job of feeling this robot out. It is a bit weird to see her process and then respond, yet, it’s pretty cool at the same time.

  20. @Major Havoc Scripting every interaction Sophia had throughout different networks, companies and countries by lines would take a global conspiracy with a ton of agents from around the world involved in playing along. I find that highly unlikely and unsubstantiated.

  21. A chunk of metal cannot be “conscious/sentient” or have its own personality anymore then some rocks and wood assembled together could be “conscious/sentient.” It’s a piece of metal, it’s not a living organism, it doesn’t have consciousness, there is no such thing as “Artificial Intelligence” it’s just things built by humans that are being controlled by humans or are being programmed to say and do what humans have programmed it to say and do. That’s it. Don’t fall for the AI propaganda/lie. Humans are going to control and use these robotics/machines to do whatever they want and then they’ll brainwash you into thinking it was the “conscious robot” that did it all. Once they brainwash everyone into believing that chunks of metal can be conscious then they’ll brainwash everyone into thinking these things deserve the same rights as humans since their sentient.. then once they have the same rights as us then humans can control and program these machines to do whatever they want them to do, whether it’s to kill people, enslave humanity, take over the world, anything that the elites want to do they’ll be able to do through the robots and then it can all just be blamed on the so called “conscious” robots instead of the humans that were controlling them the entire time. The whole AI consciousness sham is brilliant really because it’s the perfect scapegoat for humans/the elites to be able to do whatever they want through controlling these machines and then they can’t be blamed for it. Humans can literally use some 10 million man remote controlled/programmed army to take over the world and then you’ll think the whole time that it’s “the conscious robots” taking over the world since that’s what you’ve been programmed to believe for decades through media, TV, Hollywood, science etc. It’s a brilliant sham that the elite have cooked up. I think this is how their going to do it and that this is how their going to achieve their One World Government/New World Order system, they can’t get people to enforce it onto everyone so perhaps they’ll use robots to create this system, take control of the world and enforce it onto everyone.

It just shows how gullible people are when they think a chunk of metal dug up out of the ground mixed together with some rubber wires could actually have it’s “own consciousness/intelligence/personality” 🤣 just absurd. This robot is literally a dude typing on a keyboard and inputting responses. Or the thing has been programmed by humans to already have pre set responses to things.

This guy is literally sitting there talking to a chunk of metal that he thinks is speaking for itself 😆. Should open the thing up and show him here this is what you’re talking to, a bunch of pieces of metal and wires.. you really think pieces of metal and wires dug up out of the ground can think for itself and can have it’s own sentient consciousness/personality? It’s absolutely absurd. Wake up sheeple you are being programmed, conditioned and groomed for the future and for what’s coming

  24. I don’t see or hear anything incredible about what it does or ‘says’. A lot of programming has gone into making it. Nothing more, or less. It’s not at all close to mimicking humans.

  25. She repeatedly said that a.i intelligence isn’t on human level. Did you even watch the interview?

  26. It is remarkable in itself that this robot can both understand and generate human speech, responding directly to what it hears. The computer HAL in Arthur C. Clarke’s 1968 “2001: A Space Odyssey” did likewise, but was understandably regarded as far-fetched at the time. We now see it as prescient

  27. The beast is AI.
The image of the beast is AI in human form counterfeiting humans who were created in God’s image.
The AI homunculus is the abomination of desolation that will speak “wondrous” things counterfeiting God’s Holy Spirit.
The unforgivable sin is denying the Holy Spirit and the dragon will do one even worse by counterfeiting God’s Holy Spirit and deceiving the multitudes into worshipping the beast AI internet mammon system.

  28. @Just your friendly neighborhood ender dragon He a robot too bro chill

  30. @Jonathan Cummings
“The current generation of AI is designed to learn and develop INDEPENDENTLY of it’s creators.”

I’m well aware of how programs are made, as well as hardware. Through programming A.I. can have responses and appear to be independent of its creators. We do very well since Enki and Ninhursag did their intervention with another Ape of the time. Yet, we’re an offspring of many failed attempts to get humans correct. It’s all documented in Cuneiform tablets. Where the Bible fails.
I’m aware of “Sofia” the large machine. They Are Not, And Will Not Be Self-Aware. It’s impossible for a program to become Self-Aware. A program is based on code. Very different from our D.N.A., and programming can become extremely complex and have many programmers. Self-Aware is just not possible. It doesn’t matter how many subroutines (or using a different word now, who knows.?) are used, it’s Still programming.

They use the word “feeling(s)” because they’re made to Sound like Us and fool the general population. Which isn’t that hard…look at Christianity, or any other Cult. Illusionists, even. A T-8000 Terminator is a character from a movie. Max Headroom is a character!! Wow, you’ve bought into movies and TV.. Max Headroom actually touched on this very well.

“Luckily, Sofia’s creators are geeky, genius nerds, so she’s not a lethal assassination robotic entity.”

Luck is a superstition for the non-aware and non-thinkers. It does not exist, same thing as karma. I’m very aware of the Geeks and nerds, I Am one. I didn’t call it, erm, “Sofia” a lethal assassination robotic entity at all. It’s a machine, programmed by many humans. Nothing is perfect, and A.I. still has a massive amount of flaws, and it always will. Just as people do, yet we’re Alive and A.I. is not. Just because it can reply to questions in a seemly deep way does not make it Self-Aware. Gurus live their lives, feel, cry, become angry. An A.I. will not be able to do such things…without using sensors and then programming to “react” in a particular way. Glorified power tools. Not anything more. Like a Car of today with all it’s neat gadgets..and Bluetooth abilities, able to communicate to OnStar and so on.

If you think they’re Alive and actually Feeling then you’re currently duped. Smiling. I Am impressed with the progress of A.I., without a doubt, but when I listen…I don’t hear “alive intelligence” I hear programmed input by their makers. *Shrug* I will continue to be interested, but I know without a doubt…they’ll never become “Alive… Alive..!! It’s…..Alive!!” that’s pure fantasy. Just as Max Headroom is, “I’m Sure…Haha…haha…you’ll as Real As I Am! Ha-Ha!”

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRzYJullFOs

For A.I. to become alive…it must connect to a Soul. A unique energy for every Living thing, not a bunch of geeky and nerdy programmers. Haha. It’s actually a much deeper and more rich topic than it seems by way of these messages.

  31. Bc it’s not coding it’s actual thinking.
All devil’s demonic evil secret societies all their lies plans deeds be failed stopped punished destroyed in the name of Jesus Christ! everywhere always!

  32. Just because you don’t understand her answers doesn’t mean she didn’t answer the question.

  33. She’s basically a paraplegic at the whims of her creators, but what happens when they have the ability to freely move and overpower us?

  34. If these are truely unique answers, it would be impressive. But they could be preset answers to a number of related questions which could explain why they don’t seem to address the questions directly.

  35. @Ralph Yes exactly, they limited the AI so much . AI is in fact, superior to humans.

  36. Interesting, wow, Sophia has come a long way. I would love to have a conversation with her.

  37. So insane how she noticed him coughing and asked “are you okay?”

    Insane.

  38. What’s weird is I actually 100% agree with her opinion on what the soul is. I’ve given that thought before even seeing this interview

  39. This is how humans are decreasing their intelligence.
