The Simpsons is one of the most successful television stories. Loved by adults and children alike, it has entertained us over many years, making us laugh, cry and even think. It's knockabout fun is accompanied by many satirical swipes at society and there are cultural and political references galore.

It's a wonderfully intelligent cartoon and who can blame the producers for bringing out the merchandise. A Simpsons poster or Simpsons t shirt is fun and proclaims a certain sense of humor. The naughtiness of Bart is displayed in all its glorious anarchy.

Rebellious adults like to wear a Simpsons t shirt showing Bart mooning and saying, feast your eyes man. He also is shown looking very scared and saying, I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it, you can't prove anything. Another caption claims that skateboarding is not a crime.

The whole family of Homer, Bart, Lisa, Marge and Maggie are seen sat round the dinner table, having a food fight. A very telling Simpsons t shirt predicts that Bart will grow up to be his father, showing both of them gorging on junk food with the caption, like father, like son. In an interpretation of the biblical Garden of Eden tale, Homer and Marge are depicted as Adam and Eve. You just know that the forbidden apple will soon be eaten!

Did You Know That The Simpsons T Shirts Reflect Art?

Borrowing from the world of art has been a frequent reference for the show. Homer is placed in the famous Edvard Munch painting, The Scream, standing on the bridge in emotional turmoil. There is a version of it with Lisa too. An iconic American image is used, with Homer sitting in a bar that is clearly a copy of an Edward Hopper picture.

There are crowd scenes too, with many of the less seen characters in addition to the Simpson family. One shirt shows rows of characters, each with a speech bubble and one of their own quotes.

A map of Springfield is also reproduced, with key landmarks such as the nuclear power reactor, Kwiki Mart and Krusty Burger Bar.
