Here are some tips and requirements you need to begin your career in the entertainment industry.

Female - If you are a woman from age 22 up you fit this category. The opportunities really fade for high fashion or walking the Boston runway at this stage but there are other areas of modeling to consider. Some of these include glamour, commercial, fitness, figure and artistic. Please check to make sure you have the body type, especially in fitness or glamour modeling. You'll need 34-24-34 or close to it for the latter MA agencies. A sexy and curvy body is a must to go the glamorous female route.

Children - There are jobs available for a child or toddler, or even an infant in some of these Massachusetts agencies but you might have to do some extensive searching to find one right for your son or super young baby daughter.

Male - Men can find jobs in the same age groups as women in many of the same areas with a little research. Again, make sure and check to see what the model agent is looking for before going to open calls.

Teenagers - The competition is tough for teens, especially aged 13 to 15 years who want to be models and you have two main options for the performing arts. You can either apply to some of the top list NYC agencies like Ford, IMG or Elite or go local in runway, fashion, fitness or commercial. Boston, Massachusetts sports many fine agency listings for the teenage model as well.

Remember, if you apply to the big guys, make sure you read all requirements and then set your goals. Some of these are age: 13-21, height: 5'9" or taller, great complexion, good teeth, manageable hair and a slim figure.

Local teenage modeling is available in the northeastern states also. You can still work in many of the same areas as above. Make sure your Mom or Dad is involved and notified of all contacts and never go to cast call or accept a posing job for photographers unless someone goes with you. There are plenty of people who take advantage of teen models so be wary.

Get Ready for Your Portfolio Photographer

Final Thought - For a career in modeling in any of these categories there are some basics. Practice your posing styles daily along with focusing on looks and expressions so that you'll be ready when you get ready for portfolio pictures. Your photographer will help some but you need to be prepared. The more you work at it the more you will develop your own style of poses and you will be surprised at how you can strike a pose for the camera almost instantly and give a particular look when needed.

Keep at it. Write down your modeling goals, work at them daily, make contacts with Massachusetts modeling agencies and maybe you'll be on the cover of a Victoria's Secret catalog or Vogue or maybe even a calendar page. Maybe you'll be one of the women in swimsuits you see in Sports Illustrated. The sky's the limit so start your entertainment career today!
