Do I need a model portfolio of pictures? What are the Requirements for Photos?
Well, it's not absolutely necessary but you'll be ahead of the game if you find a professional photographer to take some stunning photos of you including headshots, full length, 3/4, etc. Be sure to include one closeup without makeup and one wearing a tight fitting sweater and slacks (or jeans ) to show off your figure. For women interested in glamour, posing in swimsuits might be in order.
What does it take for Maine modeling?
With that said, not everyone has the physical requirements for runway or being represented by Elite but there's still hope. Many people from children to adults are happily acting in commercial situations on TV and in print for advertisements, billboards, etc. so find your modeling niche, contact some agents for open calls and get started in your career.
Now, in all fairness, most of the agents at the very top of the list such as IMG or Elite, Ford too, are located in NYC. These are the high fashion people and their models walk the famous runways. You can start with them if you are a teenager between ages 13 and 15 and very tall (5' 9" or taller) and have a slim figure. The requirements are very strict and you'll be competing with thousands of other teen girls and boys so be prepared.
What does it take for commercial?
Not as strict, a good personality, posing and expression abilities are a plus.
Other Types
More jobs are in the areas of plus size, petite, figure or artistic, glamour, body parts like hands, feet, etc. and promotional at trade shows and events.
