Before Your Female Model Photo Shoot Know
Your Pose Angles
Taking into consideration that you are
new to modeling, there are some step by step preparations to
help you with your female model pose variations prior to
your first photo shoot.
Yes, your photographer can help but
wouldn't it be better if you are already aware of your best
features and positions? Watch how the model on this video
exploits her form to make her body look better in
pictures.
How to Become a Photo
Model
In order to become the female model
you really want to be, there are some things you really need
to know - including the do's and don'ts of how to use a
model pose correctly. You need to know your best side and
your worst side because the camera lens is going to capture
them both - unless you learn to control them. Let's get
started with some basic modeling
poses.
Square to the Camera?
No-No!
Sitting or standing with your body
facing directly toward the camera is going to add weight
(sometimes as much as 20 pounds!) so be aware and don't do
it! If you want to have a slim body always turn or twist
your body to an angle from the lens. You can barely turn or
go all the way to profile, depending upon the shot you want
to do. This angle will give you a thinner waist line and,
with just slightly tucking in your tummy you'll look
fabulous in the final print!

Okay - You Must Face the
Camera!
If the shot calls for facing the
camera then pose using a 3/4 turn with your hips diagonally
and then twist your waist back square. This will make your
body look longer and will produce an excellent straight on
photo.
Hand on the Knee
If your female model pose is in a
sitting position, once you've followed the directions above,
try placing your hand on your knee - stretching your arm
(not stiff) giving a long and slender appearance in the
posing position. Now, to finish the slenderizing effect,
place your other hand on your hip. This is a basic 101 guide
to female model pose angles and you can work on other
variations from here.
Making It Work
When you are brand new and just
learning how
to become a model, these poses
will not feel comfortable at first. Don't worry, with time
you'll be presenting a different female model pose angle at
will - it just takes time and practice. Remember my rule for
new female models, they are very simple. Observance +
practice + patience + repetition = a successful model pose.
