Are you up on the latest teen fashion trends? Wow, do these crazy fashion do's and don'ts change on a dime, or what? It's a challenge for me to keep up with the latest rages.

If you have a teenager in your house, then you probably get a significant dose of the most contemporary teen fashion. Can you figure these kids out these days? Some of the trends are a little off the wall. It's amazing how much can change from generation to generation.

I can now see why my parents would stop, stare and snicker at times. They probably thought, "What in the world is he doing?" Regardless of the latest teen fashion, as a parent you might as well get informed or your kids may leave you in the dust. Don't you want to know what's going on?

A Personal Teen Fashion Trends Story

I can remember about eight years back, my daughter was wearing blue jeans with a flared leg and a massive camouflage stripe down each side.

This undoubtedly cracked me up. I gave her so much grief about those pants, every time I laid eyes on them. She of course scowled at me and went about her business. It must have been a ten-year-old thing.

Anyway, these days she looks back at those hideous blue jeans with the camouflage stripes and laughs hysterically. "What was I thinking?" she says. I simply respond with, "I tried to tell you."

The Teenage Fashion Generation Gap (Not The Store)

Okay, it can be quite fun being a parent. Even now I take a glance around at the teen fashion and get a little confused. I see all the high school girl stuff. From clothing, to jewelry, to shoes, to makeup. It all changes rapidly, but yet seems to flow in a circle.

Just the other day I asked my daughter, who is a senior in high school now, "What was with the jelly bracelets?" Can you believe that jelly bracelets have come back around already? Are these really part of the current teen fashion trends? They were just here in the 80s. Wow, does this stuff cycle back around quickly. I wonder, is the big hair coming back next?

Most teen girls have some degree of interest in fashion, from just wanting to stay “modern”, if not quite up to date, to those of us with more than a passing fancy, wanting to know what the latest must have items are.

If you're one with a passion for trends, fashion magazines offer a world of window shopping right from a cozy chair at home. If it's a rainy day, so much the better!
