Getting Accepted and Represented – The Model Agency

So many times this seems to be a mystery to teen girls and female adults who are beginners looking for modeling careers not knowing exactly where to start.. I almost have a pat answer of  “I don’t know” but would love to here what you have to say about getting listed with model agencies.

I am a beginner teenage female model and was just wondering, what do modeling agents look for in a model? Upon studying, I have read to have a good, outgoing attitude, beautiful bone structure, strong catwalk poise, posing ability for the camera,  etc.

There is no exact answer here. Different modeling agencies look for different things depending uppon what their clients want. For instance, if you apply to Elite Model Agency,  IMG, Ford Models or one of the other top list model agencies, you will need to be tall and thin.
For high fashion modeling (above) you will need to be 5’8″ tall or taller with a small frame, be able to have a certain look (this is up for grabs) and an extraordinary way of showing expressions with your face, eyes and body language when you pose for the photographers camera.
Commercial modeling work is different and so is promotional which has its on set of rules and looks.
The advice? Take inventory of yourself, your height, weight, look, and interests. Be brutally honest and research the type modeling you could excel in and then find an agent who represents that type model. Learn how to prepare for a model agency interview. Then, go to it!

 

Work and practice posing and looks every day, see if you are in competition with the high fashion top list models who are represented by the major modeling agencies. Build your strengths and discard or work on weaknesses and you have a better chance of succeeding.
