Some steps to be a model
First, you need to look at your height, weight, complexion, and several other attributes before entering the modeling world. Talent agents each look for different styles and looks.

For instance, Elite, one of the leading agencies in New York, and all over the world, now looks for female models who are 5’10″ or taller with a thin body type so, make sure you fit this modeling physical requirement before contacting them. Remember, no matter how much you learn about how to be a model you are not going to get jobs by approaching the wrong type of talent agency. If they want tall and slim girls, 5’4″ is just not going to work.

Next, be aware of the many different types of modeling jobs available. Believe it or not, runway and high fashion are not the only choices. You might find that, if you are not tall and skinny, the category and job opportunity for you might lie in one of these others such as:

Commercial Modeling – Advertising products appearing in magazines, on billboards, store displays, etc.
Editorial Models - Lifestyle and social issues
Catalog Modeling – Wearing an assortment of clothing for large department stores or maybe even designers.
Promotional Modeling Jobs – Learn a bit about selling and make sure you have an outgoing personality for these employment opportunities; you’ll be working at trade shows and events.

These are just a few of the “other” career choices for those who want to learn how be a model so don’t give up too easily. There may be jobs in modeling waiting for you right now.
