Learn Beginner Posing and Act Like a Pro
As a SC female modeling photographer I have seen all sorts of posing techniques – some good, some great, and a few not so good. This video shows some beginner posing tips I believe will help you in front of the camera. Don’t forget to practice!
Quick & Easy Model Beginner Posing Tips for You!
The supermodels know how to pose and so should you. I want to share just a few tips on beginner posing I’m sure will help you get situated for your next photo shoot.
You do want to look beautiful in your pictures, don’t you? Let’s get started, read the tutorial and watch the video below.
How to Look Like a Pro During a Photo Shoot
You’ll find that using just a few positions you can make your body look skinnier.
And, you can have your viewer focus on the parts you really want them to see.
This is what posing is all about so pay close attention.
1. To slim your body, keep your hips turned away from the camera.
Bring your shoulders toward the lens making your hips give the illusion of your backside looking smaller and creating a curve for a wonderful look.
This is not to look sexy but is about female lines the camera loves.
2. Stand with one foot slightly back and the toe of the other foot slightly out front. Push the back part of your hip out.
You can either place the hand farther away from the camera on your hip or bring the arm into the curvature of your body resting your hand on your thigh for an exciting effect.
3. Have your head turned just slightly to one side not showing straight on. You can tilt your head a bit to one side or the other.
Females can use either pose – Example: If you tilt your head toward the high shoulder you get a more feminine look; to the low side presents a bit more of a power pose.
Tip – Avoid tilting the head too much or you end up with what we photographers refer to as a “broken neck” pose which does not work in photos.
These are just three quick model posing tips for beginners and with just a little training in the mirror you can vary them to create literally endless poses for your next photo shoot.
Some More Posing Ideas – Even If You Don’t Model
Here is another article I found with some techniques for stepping in front of that camera..
“Not everyone works with models. A lot of photographers have the job of shooting with everyday people and we need to make them look like models. So how do you do that when the subjects have no experience posing.”
Jennifer will show some extra poses in the video above so watch, learn and practice so that you can delight your photographer every time you visit the studio.
