School Photos

The following article covers a topic that has recently moved to center stage--at least it seems that way. If you've been thinking you need to know more about school photos, here lies your opportunity.

It is one of those days that most high school teens hate, picture day. Parents however see this day as a day of monumental importance, it is after all the way many parents record their offspring's school career and graduation. School photos are a way to preserve your teen girl just the way she is in her senior year.

So, how does a parent ensure the pictures taken of their teen girl turn out looking like something they want to put on the wall and send to family members? There are some simple steps to take to ensure that your high school photos turn out well.

What Type Background for your High School Picture?

Fist it is important to understand that background can make or break any photograph. These days parents get a choice of backgrounds. In the 70’s and 80’s it was a blue background for everyone and that was it, but these days there is usually a choice between several different colors.

The key to making sure that your high school photos have a good foundation is to decide which color best suits her, and what she will be willing to wear in her senior pictures!!

Every teen girl on the planet has a set of colors that they prefer, as well as a sense of fashion. A teen's high school photos will reflect her personal preferences.,, Colors she would look well in if she was wearing them. To decide which color is right for the back ground for your senior year school photos is to decide what colors she looks best in, as well as the background color, if you can find out in advance what the photographer will be using.

Truthfully, the only difference now between you and high school senior photography experts is time. If you'll invest a little more time in reading, you'll be that much nearer to expert status when it comes to school pictures.

Once you have decided on the background color, consider what your high school senior will be wearing. You don’t want her to fade into the background because the color they are wearing blends into the background. It is important that your senior's clothes accent the background so that she is the most noticeable thing in the school photos.

For example; If the background is a cool color such as blue or green, try using warm colors for the outfits such as pink, yellow or red. Black, white and gray outfits are neutral and will work with most backgrounds.

Hair is the number one killer of a high school portrait for girls. It happens time and time again, a parent sends their teen off to school dressed nicely and looking presentable but then somewhere between their leaving the house and the picture taking moment a huge wind storm comes along and they look like Albert Einstein in their final image!!

The way a parent can combat this is to make sure their senior takes along her makeup kit along with hair care products, brush, hair spray, etc. Depending on the age of your child you may have to call ahead to the school and ask that they help but if you give her instructions there is at least a chance her hair may get combed before the school photo session.

Finally, talk to your high school senior and about-to-be model and tell her what you expect. Usually, if you share with her that the high school senior portrait she creates today will be one of the most important photos she will ever take, she will try and do her best to make you smile when you see the final portraits.

Sometimes it's tough to sort out all the details related to this subject, but I'm positive you'll have no trouble making sense of the information presented above about high school photos. Best of luck with your high school senior portraits.
