Modeling is the dream career for many women. If you're one of these women, then you can follow these 10 easy steps to get your name - and photos - out there and land some modeling jobs.

1- Assemble a portfolio

Often, modeling portfolios are the first things talent scouts and agencies will see, so it's important to make yours as quality as possible. It should contain between 5 and 15 shots, including head shots, a profile view, and at least one full body shot. Use only your best photos, and make sure to keep multiple copies of your portfolio on hand.

2- Create a website

Your modeling website can feature many things to help agents evaluate you, including a biography, sample shoots, and contact information. You can design the website yourself if you know how, or you can have it professionally made.

3- Look for available jobs wherever you can

You'd be surprised how many modeling jobs there are - and they may be in places you might not think to look. Photography students will often have ads on campus advertising free or low cost shoots for models, and local boutiques may be interested in featuring you in an ad campaign. Your career may start small, but any work is good work.

4- Persevere

If you feel like you aren't doing as well as you want to, or if you're feeling discouraged because of self image, don't give up. Everybody has doubts sometimes, but you can succeed if you keep trying.

5- Contact agencies

Having a model agent to represent you can help you get more jobs. Send your portfolio out to agencies for them to look over. If they like what they see, they may ask for more, and that can lead to steady work for you.

6- Attend open calls

An open call is a great place for a beginning model to start getting out there. If you see an ad for one, attend if you can. It may be your break in point.

7- Get involved with the modeling community

There are message boards, online communities, mailing lists, and more available to aspiring and established models. Some communities even have daily or weekly listings of new modeling jobs coming into the picture. With that stated, be sure and check out these companies before applying for safety's sake. Getting involved with these can help you make connections and could propel you further in your career as a model.

8- Be professional

No model agent or manager wants to hire somebody who's late, rude, or immature. By keeping a good, professional attitude and demeanor, you'll leave a good impression. There is an old saying - "Even if you don't get the job, leave the door open for the next applicant." And, the agent who turned you down might even recommend you to another agency. Always leave on a good note.

9- Take care of yourself

Everybody has off days, but modeling is all about your appearance. Make sure you keep a healthy diet and exercise regime, and try to look your best whenever you can.

10- Stay focused

If you focus on getting discovered, there is a chance you will be. Modeling jobs are available but not all are for you or your look. Keep looking until you find the job that fits you. Never forget your goal, and keep pushing to succeed in your career. Good luck!
