Hungry for News about
Celebrities?
Need to know? This phrase has been
heard in secret operations for years and years but what
about the public's need to know about celebrities? Don't
worry, the celebrity news magazines and newspapers will tell
you everything you always wanted to know about your
favorite, movie star, model or musician. And, sometimes you
might even get TMI overload with some stories.
There is no doubt the public has an
insatiable hunger for news and gossip about the stars of TV
and film, supermodels, bands and singers, and sports people.
Celebrity news magazines are there to feed that hunger with
glossy photographs and articles. This sort of magazine is
the most popular, especially when there is a high profile
wedding or birth to report.
Hello Magazine
Hello is published in the UK, first
appearing in 1988. It also has editions in other countries,
including Canada, Mexico, Thailand and Russia. It began as a
spin off publication of the Spanish magazine, Hola.
It's a celebrity news magazine that
mixes together, soccer stars, actors from soap operas, and
the High Society world of the British aristocracy and
members of the European Royal Family. The stakes are high
when it comes to gaining exclusive rights to photographs
surrounding a particular wedding or other social event. Its
main rival to acquiring those rights is OK! Magazine,
another British weekly.
OK! News Mag
This celebrity magazine began in 1993
and it also has versions in other countries. In fact, its
availability in 19 different countries, including the USA,
India, Spain, Australia, the Middle East, and China makes it
the most widely distributed celebrity news magazine in the
world.
The magazine has made its name on
exclusive interviews by the world's hottest celebrities and
its coverage of weddings. The right to wedding photographs
is fiercely competitive and OK! Managed to scoop the
weddings for Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, David
Beckham and Posh Spice, and Britney Spears and Kevin
Federline.
Heat Magazine
From England, this British publication
also has a version in South Africa. It debuted in 1999 and
holds its own against Hello and OK! In addition to the usual
celebrity gossip, it has articles on fashion and movie and
music reviews and a TV Listings section.
Of course, the focus is on celebrity
interviews and it likes to look in depth at participants in
reality shows, such as Big Brother, and talent shows, such
as Pop Idol. This magazine for celebrity news has been very
enterprising and has spread its wings to other formats.
Heatworld.com is an online edition of
the magazine and Heat Radio can be accessed through Sky,
digital radio and online. There is also an exercise DVD,
called Heat: Get that Celebrity Look, a quiz on celebrities
DVD game, a Heat Annual book and a set of small books that
contain celebrity quotes called Say What.
People Magazine
Americans like their homegrown
magazines for celebrity news too. From 1974,
People
Magazine has entertained and
informed with celebrity articles and human interest stories.
There is less gossip within these pages than its British
counterparts. There is also an online version.
The magazine is famous for its annual
special editions, such as The Most Beautiful People, The
Best and Worst Dressed, Hollywood's Hottest Bachelors, and
The Sexiest Man Alive. The latest Sexiest Man Alive for 2008
is Hugh Jackman.
So, now that you are itching to read
some of these celebrity news magazines, just do a search for
your favorite actress, high
fashion model or recording
star to pull up some of these newspapers and mags online.
And, when you discover the spice, I'm sure you will keep it
quiet, right?
