The Causes of Teen Acne

What Exactly Causes Acne in Girls ?

When most people think of the roots of acne, what comes to mind is usually basic information that's not particularly interesting or beneficial. But there's a lot more to the roots of acne than just the basics.

If you’re in middle school or high school, you probably have troubles with acne. Sure, there are always those few students somehow blessed with beautiful skin that is completely blemish-free all through their teens, but if they manage to graduate high school without ever having a zit the rules of averages would suggest that something will go terribly wrong later in their lives. At least the rest of us can always hope.

Acne can go a long way in wrecking your day, or at least wrecking your self-esteem. Waking up with a big red zit on the middle of your chin can be disastrous, especially if it’s on the day of your prom or on the day of your first date with the girl or guy of your dreams.

Pop the Zit or Leave It Alone

Once the zit is already there, there isn’t a whole lot you can do. You can pop it and be left with a red mark or just leave it there and suffer through it. Those are your choices.

Sometimes the most important answers are not immediately obvious. Keep reading to get the complete picture for your particular oily skin problems.

Speaking of other kids, they have acne too. Though it may feel like it sometimes, you’re not the only one who occasionally has acne. It may feel like everybody else is staring at the zit on your chin, but really, they’re not. They probably couldn’t care less if you had ten zits on your chin, since they’re probably too preoccupied worrying about their own acne. Adolescence brings with it a whole host of insecurities so don’t worry, everybody else is freaking out too.

So, what can you do about your acne? As the saying goes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Unfortunately for some, acne is, in part, genetic.

Some people are genetically predisposed to having amazingly clear skin, others have average skin with pimples cropping up every now and then, while yet others are genetically afflicted with having terrible skin. If you find yourself somewhere in the last two categories like most people, all hope is not lost.

Since acne is cause by dirt and oil getting trapped within your pores, the best prevention against acne is to wash your face regularly, at least every morning and night. Use mild soap to avoid irritation.

A mild astringent can help some people dry out their faces and reduce the amount of oil on their skin, but for others it dries out their skin too much. Some prescription acne medicines are available, but these usually aren’t worth the hassle and side effects unless your acne is particularly chronic.

That's how things stand right now. Keep in mind that any subject can change over time, so be sure you keep up with the latest news about acne and skin care products.
