How to prevent acne

As a professional female model photographer I see young women and teen girls everyday who come into the studio with faces covered in pimples.... Not very good for their career. But, I'm writing to you as I advise them .. Acne prevention is much easier than finding a cure.

How Female Models Use Acne Prevention - You Should Too!

Girls, Don't Try For A Cure -- Prevent Acne From Happening!

Every teen – or preteen – is appalled when that very first pimple appears. Almost everyone, even beauty models, suffers from some form of acne during these adolescent years, simply due to imbalances in hormones and an excessive production of oils in the skin.

When To Begin Having A Beautiful, Clear Complexion? NOW!

However, some kids, and adults are genetically disposed to suffer from acne to a greater degree than others. In every case, your best defense is a good offense. Start your acne prevention program early to minimize your problems with pimples and acne.

You Are What You Eat

At the top of the list of food 'enemies' are oily, fatty and fried foods. It's unfortunate that foods like French fries, greasy hamburgers and chips are favored so highly at this age. You're not too concerned about what health conditions might result from eating these foods later in life.

What you may not realize is that, while they taste good and 'everybody' – at least, everybody in your age group – eats them on a regular basis, these foods contribute much to the nurturing of those dread pimples and acne conditions.

Oily Food Leads To Oily Skin

It only makes sense that, if your body is already producing excess oils, you don't need to add to the problem. Your effective acne prevention program will get off to a good start by wiping these goodies off your food list completely. Taking this step will also prevent you from developing undesirable gains in weight.

The Best Foods For Acne Prevention

On the list of food 'friends' are those fruits and veggies Mom is always trying to push on your menus.

While you may sincerely believe she's just being a nagging mother, she's really on your side. Let's take an objective, scientifically supported look at why. Fruits and vegetables are the best sources of all the nutrients that promote a healthy, glowing complexion.

Take A Trip To The Produce Stand

Produce is absolutely loaded with vitamins A, C and E, which form the basis of a good acne prevention program. Produce also contains zinc, which is found and used in almost every cell in your body, working hand in hand with the vitamins A, C and E. Apples, avocado, bananas, blueberries, cantaloupe, grapes and kiwi fruits are just a few of the fruits which supply this essential nutrient.

Reach For Acne Prevention Instead Of Chips

Artichokes, carrots, broccoli, corn and cucumbers are good veggie sources of zinc. So, instead of reaching for some chips or a candy bar for a snack, grab one of these. Your complexion will show the power of these additions to your acne prevention program.

Prevent Acne By Taking Care Of Your Skin

Good skin care is also important in acne prevention. Take a few minutes each day, morning and evening, to clean your skin properly and keep that excess oil in check. Use warm, not hot water to open your pores.

Let that warm washcloth sit on your face for a couple of minutes. An oatmeal soap is gentle enough to not irritate your skin, while removing the excess oils that lead to pimples and acne. Rinse well, again with warm water, to remove all traces of soap.

Follow up with an astringent, such as witch hazel, gently applied with a cotton ball. This closes the pores of your skin, preventing dirt and oils from seeping back in to the pores. Try to avoid applying makeup, such as foundations. This just clogs and eventually, enlarges pores, inviting skin problems – and acne.

So there you have it. A terrific acne prevention program. Practice this and I promise you will see good results in as little as a month. Then, keep it up! You might just become a beauty model yet!
